About Us

At Israel’s Island, we believe that every child deserves to be seen, heard, and supported, especially those navigating life on the autism spectrum. Our nonprofit was founded by Kishawna Brown, a mother of four (two of whom are autistic), an advocate, and a community leader who knows firsthand the challenges that come with raising a neurodivergent child in a world that doesn’t always understand. What began as a personal mission to find peace and resources for her family has become a growing grassroots movement for families across Pope County and beyond.

We are more than a resource hub, we are a refuge. A place where overwhelmed parents can find answers without judgment, support without red tape, and belonging without barriers. Whether you’re new to an autism diagnosis or have been navigating this journey for years, Israel’s Island stands beside you.

Through one-on-one advocacy support, IEP workshops, care package deliveries, faith-based encouragement, and community partnerships, we meet families where they are emotionally, financially, and geographically. Our services are always personal, culturally aware, and rooted in real experience.

At Israel’s Island, we do this work not because it’s easy, but because it’s necessary. No parent should feel lost, isolated, or ashamed. No child should be treated like a problem to be solved. We exist to bridge the gap between families and the resources they need to thrive academically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Together, we are building something sacred: a community that uplifts, advocates, and redefines what’s possible for families raising autistic children.
