Journey of Support

At Israel’s Island, we believe no family should have to navigate the world of autism alone. Inspired by our founder’s own journey as a mother of neurodivergent children, we’ve created a place where families can find understanding, resources, and hope at every stage of their child’s development. Whether you’re just beginning to seek answers, advocating for your child in school, or learning to embrace your family’s unique strengths, we walk alongside you — offering guidance, connection, and encouragement every step of the way. Here, you are seen, heard, and supported — because your journey matters, and you don’t have to travel it alone.

Information

Israel’s Island is a grassroots nonprofit resource and information hub dedicated to supporting individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. Founded in Russellville, Arkansas by Kishawna Y. Brown — a wife, mother of four, advocate, and educator — the organization was inspired by her two oldest children, both diagnosed on the spectrum. We provide families with access to educational materials, workshops, advocacy support, and a welcoming community where they can find answers and encouragement. Our mission is to ensure that no family feels isolated or overwhelmed when facing an autism diagnosis, and that every child and parent has the tools and support they need to thrive.

Services

Educational Resources

We provide families with clear, accessible information about autism, special education rights, therapies, and community supports. Our resource library includes printed materials, books, guides, and digital tools designed to help parents understand their child’s needs and confidently advocate for them. Whether you’re just beginning your journey or looking for advanced information, we have resources to guide you.

Parent & Caregiver Workshops

Our monthly workshops empower parents and caregivers with practical knowledge and strategies they can use at home, in schools, and in healthcare settings. Topics include understanding autism, navigating the IEP process, behavior management at home, and building social skills. These workshops are led by professionals and experienced advocates who understand what families are going through.

Family Advocacy & Support

We know how overwhelming it can feel to attend meetings, complete paperwork, or communicate with schools and providers. That’s why we offer one-on-one advocacy support — helping parents prepare for IEP meetings, understand their rights, and feel confident speaking up for their child. We also provide referrals to trusted professionals and services in the community.

Support Groups

Families thrive when they connect with others who truly understand. Our support groups create a safe, welcoming space for parents, caregivers, and sometimes siblings to share experiences, exchange advice, and build friendships. No one should have to go through this journey alone — and at Israel’s Island, you never will.
